To Touch

 -Krishna Bishwakarma

Translated from the Nepali by Hem Bishwakarma

To touch is the beginning of
creation.

Had a comet not touched

This beautiful earth would not
have created!

When a seed touches a womb of
soil

It shoots up into a pleasing plant.

When a hoe touches the barren
soil

The nature ornaments green and
smiles

When in discussion

A vision touches another view

Then, a philosophy of life is
borne

With the responsibility,

When a day touches a night

And the entire village is
illuminated!

To touch is to invent

To touch is to uproot the dark

After lips touch a flute

It tunes a pleasant melody!

After the fingers' touch

The Sarangi, Tablas and
Harmonium

Ensemble the joyful Sargams

Grooves a blissful Sur-Taal—

That life absorbs and dances in!

When the feet touch the ways

The paths open up a journey–

The journey fixes the pace of
life!

Touch is not the destruction but
creation

Touch is not the deconstruction
but construction

Somewhere a story gives a pinchy
touch

So that a heart teaches eyes

To melt in compassion

A beautiful flower touches the
eyes with love

so that the soul seeks in humans

The grandeur of flowers

Touch is also a creative innovation

Touch is a transformation of
evolution

Polishing the gilt of clichéd
arrogance

An antisocial consciousness pursues

The extremism of Untouch

For the centuries

A corner of this earth

Is exceptionally structured

In a puzzling exposition of
arrogance

Oh, wise man!

Try to embrace the Corner—

You will know the secret of the earth's
balance!

You will know the transformation
of Touch!
